Since the Booted Eagle left its Cornish wintering grounds, it has done a fair tour of eastern England. I've tried and failed to see it in both Norfolk and Suffolk this spring, with no luck. Today's news at 08h30 seemed more promising so after doing some urgent chores, I headed north and enjoyed splendid views with Will Soar, Sarah Morrison and several others.

This followed a decent moth trap, which included a lovely Assara terebrella (Dark Spruce Knot-horn) - a nationally scarce denizen of spruce - and the stunning bug Rhabdomiris striatellus. And all this after a week including finding a new site for Stone Curlew in an unexpected area and seeing nice raptors such as Honey Buzzard, Goshawk and Hobby - despite having a work-packed week.
